Festival „Sounds of Surrender“

Wrocław, 08.-12. October 2024

The ‘Sounds of Surrender’ festival will focus on showcasing the multiculturalism of music and its role in strengthening unity.

I look very much forward to welcoming you to the 2nd edition of the Sounds of Surrender Festival, which will take place from 8 October to 12 October 2024.

The spirit of tradition and the beauty of the architecture of venues such as the White Stork Synagogue and the Oratorium Marianum will once again co-create the atmosphere of the concerts.
The uniqueness of this year’s festival is created by a repertoire built on a dialogue between Latin American (tango nuevo) and European music, as well as the interdisciplinarity of the entire project involving not only outstanding musicians, but also dance and visual arts.

The concerts will feature musicians and the most outstanding young soloists from China, Brazil, Argentina, Poland, Germany, Italy and the USA, among others.

Invited guests will include world-class bandoneonist Omar Massa or some of the most outstanding young talents in the persons of violinists Guido Sant’Anna and Elias David Moncado, pianist Martina Consonni or cellist LiLa.

The premiere of Omar Massa’s piece ‘Neotango Continuum’ for bandoneon, guitar and string quartet, in addition to undoubtedly enriching the literature for this set of instruments, will at the same time be an innovative interdisciplinary project combining music, contemporary dance and visual arts. The use of artificial intelligence technology in visual arts during the concert is also a kind of glimpse into the future – SHEEN, a technology from Berlin that transforms sound into visual art in real time using artificial intelligence, creating audio-reactive visuals as immersive, multi-sensory experiences.

I am extremely happy that we can continue the idea of our festival based on multiculturalism and the search for new and attractive forms of artistic expression. I am sure that this year’s edition will provide you with plenty of new experiences, not only musical ones!
